NEW YORK, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Actor Richard Bright, who appeared in all three
"Godfather" films, was hit by a bus and killed in New York at age 68, it was
reported Sunday.
Witnesses
said the driver of the bus did not know he struck the actor with his rear wheel
Saturday night, the New York Post reported. No charges were filed.
Bright would be best remembered for playing bodyguard Al Neri in all three
"Godfather" films. He was the one who shot Fredo Corleone in "The Godfather II"
on the orders of brother Michael, played by Al Pacino.
He appeared in a range of films, usually as a police officer or mobster, The
Post said. He also appeared on TV in "Law & Order," "Third Watch" and "The
Sopranos."
The manager of a coffee shop near the scene of the accident said Bright dined
there every night and was probably on his way to eat supper when he was hit by
the bus.
