Claim to Fame: This is strange... if you ask five people who know who
Peter Barton is, you'll get five different
answers on what he is famous for.
I'm going to go with two things that he is most noted for. The TV series 'The
Powers of Mattew Star' and his role on the soap opera 'The Young & the
Restless.'
Family Life: Single, Never Married. Did
live with actress Kimberly Beck in the early '80s.
Info: After some initial modeling assignments, Barton moved to
Hollywood to make his mark on the entertainment industry. At the age of 22, he
was cast opposite Shirley Jones in the NBC series "Shirley," even though he had
had no formal training. The studio connected him with prominent acting coach
Vincent Chase, and when the series ended, he was cast as the lead in another NBC
series, "The Powers of
Matthew Star." Trivia:
He was badly burned when a stunt went wrong on the set
of his series "The Powers of Matthew Star". Production was delayed a year while
the he healed.
Majored in chiropractic medicine in New York.
As a youngster, he was terrified of Cruella De Vil from One Hundred and One
Dalmatians.
Was thinking of retiring from the film industry until Linda Blair coaxed him
into doing 'Hell Night' with her. He now credits that film as bringing him back
and has been in the business ever since.
There was a scene in 'Hell Night' where Peter was thrown down a flight of stairs
and hurt his leg. In reality, he had really hurt himself and most of his limping
wasn't an act.
He's an avid golfer.
Beat out Tom Cruise for the title role in "The Powers of Matthew Star". Where Is
He Now: There were rumors that Peter had given up acting, but the truth is,
he just wasn't getting offered any roles. That changed this year, with the
independent film 'Repetition.'
He currently lives in Los Angeles and when he can't land an acting job, he works
in the fitness field.
