Review: New to Metropolis, Clark Kent (Darren Criss) becomes an intern at the Daily Planet alongside ace reporter Lois Lane (Alexandra Daddario). There he will learn about all aspects of humankind while getting accustomed to the fact that he secretly wields powers the likes of which no one has even witnessed. Soon he get a crash-course in using those powers when extraterrestrial bounty hunter Lobo (Ryan Hurst) and monstrously vile Parasite (Brett Dalton) set their sights on his new home. Get ready for a new era of adventure as we meet Superman: Man of Tomorrow!

Think that Superman is one of the hardest characters to write for. He's strong, pure, incorruptible, he's everything good in the world. He's not really flawed other than for the fact that he can't save everyone. Superman can be a compelling character, but in Superman: Man of Tomorrow he's just kind of bland.

This story shows the viewer Superman becoming the Superman we all know. The problem is there isn't much tension or conflict. Superman wants to help humanity and he does, but he's a little unsure of how to let the people of Metropolis of his good intentions. That's a little weak for a super hero story. But then he does battle with hardcore alien bounty hunter Lobo , and the action is fun and exciting. And then he does battle with the scary, horrific, and nightmarish menace Parasite, which starts out entertaining, but takes a course to a climax that ultimately confuses and disappoints.

Superman: Man of Tomorrow contains a lot of interesting ideas and subplots, but it doesn't really explore any of them enough to thoroughly entertain the audience of Superman, DC fans, or super hero supporters. It wastes great characters like Lois Lane, Lex Luther, and Martian Manhunter just by throwing them into a Superman story because they should be there. After the extreme disappointment that was Batman: Soul of the Dragon (2021) I was really hoping for something special with this one, but I guess the "D" latest outings of the DC Animated Universe Movies stands for "disappointing." You can skip this one, super friends!

Fun Fact: Lobo mentions Earth being in Sector 2814. This is a reference to Green Lantern lore, where all of known space has been divided up into 3600 sectors. Each sector is being patrolled by one Green Lantern at least. Earth is in Sector 2814.
