Claim To Fame: For most people the name Steve Guttenberg conjurs up the 'Police Academy' movies.

For me I'll always remember him in the movie 'Diner'... which I think was his best role. He playedEddie the football enthusiast who insisted his fiance take a very difficult exam on the subject before he would marry.

Family Life: Denise Bixler (September 1988 - 1992) (divorced)

Info: What most people do not realize is that Steve has been the above-the-title star of six films that earned over $100,000,000 in the United States, a feat accomplished by relatively few superstars.

He has also starred in four film franchises, appearing in such sequeled smash hits as Cocoon (1985), Three Men and a Baby (1987), Police Academy (1984)and Short Circuit (1986), taking his films' box-office grosses into the billions.

Trivia: Turned down the role of Josh in 'Big' a role that eventually went to Tom Hanks.

Turned down the role of Dr. Peter Venkman in 'Ghostbusters'in favor of playing Carey Mahoney in 'Police Academy'.

The writers of the Simpsons pay tribute to Steve in the episode "Homer the Great," where he appears as a cartoon and mentioned in the song sung by the Stonecutters ("Who holds back the electric car? Who makes Steve Guttenberg a star? We do! We do!")

He helped to create Guttenhouse which is dedicated to helping the homeless.

Where Are They Now: Still acting. In fact he just appeared in a made for TV remake of 'The Poseidon Adventure.'

If you go to your local video store, you're sure to see a bunch of movies he's appeared in. For the last few years, many of them have gone straight to video.

He also does a great deal of theater work.

Also this year he appeared in the TV series 'Veronica Mars.'
