Review: Jesse Stone (Tom Selleck) is a New England police chief investigating a series of murders, in an adaptation of Robert B. Parker's novel. 'Stone Cold' was a made-for-TV movie that aired on CBS back in 2005. I saw it about a year later on DVD and I absolutely loved it! It got such good ratings that a sequel (Jesse Stone: Night Passage) came out the following year. Tom Selleck's portrayal of the Jesse Stone character and the success of 'Stone Cold' helped to create 9 movies in this popular franchise. Jesse Stone is a brooding, troubled police chief that battles bad guys as well as the bottle in the hopes of saving the town of Paradise and maybe himself. The movie, much like the books, is about its characters. You not only get great characters here, but you also get talented actors and actresses taking them right off the page and bringing them to life on screen. I can't recommend 'Stone Cold' and the other Jesse Stone movies enough. Tom Selleck is incredible as always, creating a memorable character that leaves you wanting more. The books are great, too!

Fun Fact: Although 'Stone Cold' was filmed first (2005), you might like to watch 'Night Passage' (2006) first as it is the prequel and shows Jesse's arrival in Paradise.
