Review: A mysterious man (Dan Stevens) visits the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action.
After he is welcomed into their home, a series of bizarre coincidences and accidental deaths seem to be connected to the charming stranger. 'The Guest' is a tongue-in-cheek thriller that delivers chills, action, and laughs! The best way I can describe Dan Stevens' "David" is he's the love-child of The Terminator and Michael Myers, but ruggedly handsome and charming as hell. His steely gaze is creepy and it seems like he's capable of bad things at a moments notice, but charisma keeps your eyes on him and you won't stop trying to figure him out. It's a very dark comedy, too; definitely my kind of movie. It's not for everyone. The graphic violence, tone, and jet black humor may turn some viewers off. But if you like a thrillers, with slasher movie elements, action, laughs, and slick homages to '80s movies, then invite in 'The Guest'.
Fun Fact: The three masks from the movie Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) (Jack O'Lantern, Witch, and Skeleton) can be seen on the wall in the climax of the film.
