Claim To Fame: Brooke Adams is an American actress best known for her film roles in Days of Heaven (1978), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) and The Dead Zone (1983).

Family Life: Adams has been married to actor Tony Shalhoub since 1992. They have two daughters, both of whom were adopted.

Info: Born to Rosalind, an actress, and Robert K. Adams, who was a producer, actor, and former vice president of CBS, as well as an unverified descendant of presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams.

She is of English and German ancestry.

Her sister is actress Lynne Adams.

Attended the High School of Performing Arts and the School of American Ballet, and in her youth took dance classes at her aunt's studio in Montague, Michigan.

In 1988, Adams met husband Tony Shalhoub when the two performed together on Broadway in "The Heidi Chronicles". They wed in 1992. The couple has two adopted daughters: Josie Lynn (born 1988), who was adopted by Adams before her marriage and whom Shalhoub later adopted), and Sophie (born 1993), adopted by the couple after they married.

Trivia: On stage at age 6 and on television at age 16.

Her first feature film role was in 1967 starring in a New York City-based musical film named All the Other Outs in Free, directed by Ray Russell, which was never released.

Reportedly turned down offer to be one of the original Charlie's Angels (1976).

Listed as one of twelve "Promising New Actors of 1978" in John Willis' Screen World, Vol. 30.

Starred in the remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), for which she was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Actress.

Appeared in Gas Food Lodging (1992)and earned herself a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female.

Guest-starred in Monk, the series starring her husband, appearing in five different episodes, playing four different roles.

In 2002, she appeared in the romantic comedy Made-Up, which was written by her sister Lynne Adams, and directed by her husband Tony Shalhoub.

Has written, produced, starred, and directed several episodes the comedic TV series All Downhill from Here.

Where Are They Now: It would appear that Adams has taken a break from acting for the last few years. Hopefully, she will return to the small screen, big screen, or possibly the stage. I hear that Monk is coming back, maybe she will appear with her husband on there. I certainly hope so.
