She is best known for her film debut role in A League of Their Own (1992) as Evelyn Gardner, the teary-eyed right-fielder who was told by Tom Hanks that there is "No crying in baseball!"
She recently came back into the spotlight as Sharona Fleming on the award-winning TV series Monk (2002?2004) for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe.

Schram pursued roles in film, television, and Broadway theater before she was cast as Evelyn Gardner in the Penny Marshall directed film, A League of Their Own. Schram's character was the focus of the now famous line, "There's no crying in baseball!"
She followed that success with numerous critically-acclaimed films, including Cleopatra's Second Husband, Kissing A Fool, One Fine Day, Marvin's Room, The Pallbearer, Caught, Dennis Hopper's Chasers; The Night We Never Met, and Fathers & Sons.
In 2002, she returned to the spotlight with the lead role opposite Tony Shalhoub on the USA comedy series Monk. She turned the show into a hit before being released by the USA Network mid-way through the show's third season over a salary dispute.
Also an accomplished stage actress, she appeared as one of the original cast members in Neil Simon's hit Broadway production Laughter on the 23rd Floor with Nathan Lane.
Trivia:
Attended the University of Maryland with a tennis scholarship and graduated with a degree in advertising design.
Is left-handed.
Likes to travel and has been to many exotic places including Spain, Belgium, Venezuela and Russia.
Was in a TV commercial for Bud Light in 1999.
Was asked to leave the show Monk over a salary dispute, just over the third season's halfway point.
Where Are They Now:
In 2006, Schram appeared in two episodes of FX's crime drama "Thief" as an art gallery owner. She most recently appeared in the film A-List, and on television in 2007's You've Got a Friend.
