Review: The mysterious Phantasm has come to Gotham City to take out mobsters one by one. When Batman is wrongly blamed for these crimes he's in a race to save the city, clear his name, and stop this murderous assassin before it's too late. In my opinion, this is hands-down the best Batman movie, animated or live-action EVER! Batman: The Animated Series revolutionized the way cartoons were made and the way audiences saw the Dark Knight. This animated movie was made during the series stellar run. It features the same stunning animation, character design, memorable score, and the remarkable voice talents of series regulars Kevin Conroy (The Best Batman Ever!, in my opinion), Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Robert Hastings, Robert Costanzo, and Mark Hamill (The Best Joker Ever!, in my opinion). The best part is, unlike the Tim Burton "Batman" movies, this one actually gives Batman something to do, explores his character, and gives audience one of the truest representations of the World's Greatest Detective like never seen before on screen. "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" is nothing short of perfection. If you love animation, Batman, or just a good adventure story with compelling characters, then put on your cape and cowl and prepare to fight along side Batman as he tries to discover who is behind the Mask of the Phantasm.
Fun Fact: Dana Delany's voice performance in the film impressed the filmmakers, leading to her being cast as Lois Lane in Superman: The Animated Series (1996).
