Review: Political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. The new status quo deeply divides members of the team. Captain America (Chris Evans) believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) must pick a side.

I know this may be redundant, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe is chock full o' blockbuster successes. Add Captain America: Civil War to the list. Dealing with the fallout from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America must keep his friend Bucky's dark past under wraps while also trying to juggle the Avengers' ethical dilemma moving forward. This film is one of the more interesting MCU installments that explores a personal clash between friends, ultimately leading to a divide between the Avengers. We are accustomed to our heroes battling evil villains, but in this case, they are battling themselves. It's a very interesting dynamic that takes a deep dive into the psyches of all of these beloved characters and their differing viewpoints regarding plying their crafts. While I prefer my Avengers teaming up and working together, this provides a dynamic that is different than any other MCU film. There is a balance between riveting action, human emotion, and humor that makes this movie another classic among the pantheon of MCU greats. I highly recommend this movie for any fans of Marvel, and as a film that provides a lot of important backstory that sets up the MCU's future blockbusters.

Fun Fact: The day before filming a fight scene with Robert Downey Jr., Sebastian Stan sent him a video of himself doing intense bicep curls in front of the decapitated head of an Iron Man suit. He attached the message, "Looking forward to our scene tomorrow Robert".
