Review: Eric Roth (Luke Grimes), an out-of-towner, travels to El Camino, Nevada seeking the father he has never met. After a flurry of unfortunate events, he ends up barricaded inside of a liquor store with five other people on Christmas Eve. Unbeknownst to Eric, one of those people happens to be his long lost dad.

Here I am scanning the Netflix menus for something to watch. It's the holiday season, so I'm particularly interested in possibly watching a holiday movie. I come across El Camino Christmas, a holiday film with an absolutely stellar cast, and I'm immediately intrigued. I turn the movie on, and it's all down hill from there. Despite the word, "Christmas" in its title, this movie is as much a Christmas film as Die Hard. It's not a feel good, holiday comedy. It's depressing, not funny, and drags more than my feet if I were to ever try and run a marathon. What kills me is that I'm a huge fan of a lot of these cast members. Tim Allen (Home Improvement, The Santa Clause), Kurtwood Smith (That 70's Show), Dax Shepard (Punk'd, Without a Paddle), Michelle Mylett (Letterkenny), and Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four) are all actors/actresses that I thoroughly enjoy among others. On it's surface, I had really high hopes for this Netflix Original Film, but it ultimately fell short for me. There were some heartwarming moments between Luke Grimes and Tim Allen, as well as Grimes, Michelle Mylett, and her young son. Despite that, these moments were unfortunately overshadowed by a bad script, and an unfortunate waste of a very talented cast.

Fun Fact: Jessica Alba was a Punk'd victim and Dax Shepard was the instigator during an episode of the first season of Ashton Kutcher's Punk'd. Kurtwood Smith and Kutcher also starred together in That 70's Show.
