Review: In 1997, Manhattan has become a maximum security prison. When Air Force One crashes within the prison walls, one man, the only man for the job, Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) has been sent to the Big Apple to rescue the President (Donald Pleasence) at all costs. John Carpenter and Kurt Russell team up to bring audiences the best in escapist entertainment, pun intended. Here they create an iconic character that leads an ensemble cast of great character actors to create a futuristic action-adventure that is nothing short of a cult classic. Carpenter's great camera work makes the desolate New York streets seem to go on and on for miles. The editing, production design, and soundtrack make "Escape from New York" elevate this perfect B-movie. Kurt Russell's Snake Plissken is the anti-hero he was born to play. His iconic look, attitude, and gruff line delivery make for a very entertaining watch. So if you're looking to "Escape" then head to New York with Snake Plissken.
