Review: Hotshot police officer Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) smells foul play when the residents of a sleepy Somerset village start to die in terrible "accidents". Something's afoot, but can he and daft local plod Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) find out what?

Hot Fuzz follows Shaun of the Dead as the second film in Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost's Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy. The brilliant comedy trio is back with another hilarious, action-packed film filled with all kinds of small-town hijinks. Sandford, Gloucestershire on it's surface is your regular small town that regularly wins "Village of the Year" and maintains a non-existent crime rate. No murders for over 20 years they say! But when Nicholas Angel arrives, all hell breaks loose and a cloaked figure begins a string of grisly murders that the ignorant townsfolk pass off as happenstance. Even the dim-witted police force that Angel now helms aren't buying into the accidents as murders. Angel knows better, and everyone in Sandford is a suspect. Everyone from a gang of hoodie-wearing teenagers to a local supermarket tycoon are at the center of the investigation. We inevitably find that Sandford is a treasure trove of ridiculous characters that will sure to have you howling with laughter throughout. Hot Fuzz is the perfect satirical buddy comedy that pays plenty of homages to Danny's favorite movies: Point Break and Bad Boys II. This film pays it's respects to the buddy cop genre while also maintaining it's originality. The comedy is clever, and sometimes over-the top; in a good way! There is also an action-packed last act that will have you on the edge of your seat. This film is the perfect blend of action and comedy, and another A+ effort from the Wright, Pegg, and Frost. Hot Fuzz is a must-watch flick!

Bonum Commune Communitatis!

Fun Fact: The first draft of the script included a love interest for Nicholas named Victoria. She was cut from subsequent drafts, but a good amount of her dialogue was given to Danny, often without any changes.
