Movie Title: House on Haunted Hill
Starring: Vincent Price, Carol Ohmart, Richard Long, Alan Marshal, Carolyn Craig, Elisha Cook Jr., Julie Mitchum, Leona Anderson, and Skeleton as Himself
Review: A millionaire (Vincent Price) offers $10,000 to five people who agree to be locked in a large, spooky, rented house overnight with him and his wife (Carol Ohmart). But is it actually haunted or is a killer on the loose? I guess we'll just have to see after a night in the House on Haunted Hill.
Director William Castle creates a movie with a creepy atmosphere that offers thrills, chills, and frights that still work on audiences today, even without the "Emergo" gimmick. Vincent Price's diabolical performance drives this movie and some of the visuals really do get under your skin.
It's certainly not the best movie ever made, but it's fun, silly, and a classic all its own. Give it a look and let the shivers go up and down your spine!
Fun Fact: Exterior shots of the haunted house, primarily during the film's opening sequence, were filmed at The Ennis Brown House, located in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1924, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
