Review: In Steven Spielberg's massive blockbuster, paleontologists Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) are among a select group chosen to tour an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. While the park's mastermind, billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), assures everyone that the facility is safe, they find out otherwise when various ferocious predators break free and go on the hunt. Jurassic Park is a classic sci-fi, adventure film; a true masterpiece. To be honest, none of the future installments in this film series even come close to measuring up (as noted by our review of Jurassic World). This movie really transcended monster movies in a way that no movie ever has. You have a simple, yet captivating plot. The film features a great cast, spectacular special effects, an all-time iconic score by John Williams, all the dinosaur sequences to bring out your inner-child, and all of the terror and suspense to scare the living daylights out of you. The pacing is perfect as there is very little wasted time when it comes to establishing the plot and key themes before diving into the awe-inspiring action sequences that bring dinosaurs to life like never before. I could watch this movie a million times and it would never get old. If you haven't seen this movie, what are you waiting for? Watch this film! And if you have seen it, then you're probably like me and make a point to watch this masterpiece at least once a year. A timeless classic for the ages!

Fun Fact: Steven Spielberg wanted the velociraptors to be about ten feet tall, which was taller than they were known to be. During filming, paleontologists uncovered ten-foot-tall specimens of raptors called Utahraptors.
