Review: The Imperial Forces -- under orders from cruel Darth Vader (David Prowse) -- hold Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) hostage, in their efforts to quell the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford), captain of the Millennium Falcon, work together with the companionable droid duo R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) to rescue the beautiful princess, help the Rebel Alliance, and restore freedom and justice to the Galaxy.

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope is the Star Wars film that launched the second highest grossing film franchise of all time (recently passed by the Marvel Cinematic Universe). As a self-proclaimed Star Wars nerd, it should come as no surprise that I view the original Star Wars trilogy as the best trilogy of all time.

I think this movie does a great job of setting the stage for the universe that George Lucas has created. We're introduced to our primary characters, all of which are unique and bring different skills and attributes to the table. We get to experience unique planets and landscapes. This film is pure entertainment, as we tag along with Luke Skywalker and Han Solo as they traverse the galaxy aboard the Milennium Falcon to rescue Princess Leia. Darth Vader, voiced by the amazing James Earl Jones, also proves to be one of the most iconic, and enigmatic villains in cinematic history. I think it's a testament that these films can produce enjoyment for both children and adults without being a film catered towards one or the other. Everything from our heroes, villains, settings, and even the iconic John Williams soundtrack are second to none. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope is a timeless classic, and just the beginning of this historic franchise. If you haven't seen this film, then what are you waiting for? Get some Star Wars in your life now!

Fun Fact: George Lucas was so sure this movie would flop that instead of attending the premiere, he went on vacation to Hawaii with his good friend Steven Spielberg, where they came up with the idea for Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). Despite Lucas' reservations, Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope was the first movie to ever make over $300 million.
