Review: It has been eight years since Batman (Christian Bale), in collusion with Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman), vanished into the night. Assuming responsibility for the death of Harvey Dent, Batman sacrificed everything for what he and Gordon hoped would be the greater good. However, the arrival of a cunning cat burglar (Anne Hathaway) and a merciless terrorist named Bane (Tom Hardy) force Batman out of exile and into a battle he may not be able to win.

The Dark Knight Rises is the final film in the Dark Knight trilogy, and while it fails to live up to its legendary predecessor, it's a simply amazing film and conclusion to one of the best movie trilogies of all time. This film once again benefits from an incredible cast led by Christian Bale, Michael Caine, and Gary Oldman. Anne Hathaway adds a new dimension as a love interest/anti-hero for Batman that provides for a very interesting dynamic. I also really love the work done by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as I think his character is interesting, integral, and not lost among our already stacked cast of characters. As someone who does not read the comics, this film excelled in that it was action-packed, entertaining, and most importantly, lacking in predictability. One criticism is that it ran long at two hours and 45 minutes. But all things considered, this is a fantastic movie, and a joy to watch over and over again. Christopher Nolan ought to be commended for how truly amazing the Dark Knight trilogy is, and as such, I highly recommend this movie to everyone!

Fun Fact: About a year before the film's release, Christopher Nolan mentioned he was considering using a mixture of CGI and deleted scenes from The Dark Knight (2008) to have the Joker appear briefly. He ultimately decided it was disrespectful to Heath Ledger.
