Review:
Harold (
Bud Cort
) is young, rich, and completely obsessed with death. But after he meets a lively septuagenarian Maude (Ruth Gordon) at a funeral he finds himself living life to its fullest. I'm not one for romantic comedies, but Harold and Maude is one that I rather enjoyed. It's been heralded by fans and critics alike for years, I only saw it a year or two ago and found it's slow pace and off-beat humor refreshing. After watching this classic you would be hard pressed not to want to get out and start living life to its fullest. It's definitely not a movie for everyone, but it's sweet, funny, and romantic in every sense of the word. And the songs by Cat Stevens really add the perfect touch, too.
Stars (out of 4):
Fun Fact:
Bud Cort
wanted Greta Garbo to play the part of Maude.
