Review: Two despicably corrupt cops (Alexander Skarsgård and Michael Peña) make it their sole duty to rip-off every single criminal that crosses their path. But things get dangerously complicated when they decide to tangle with the dirtiest of dogs, Lord James Mangan (Theo James). John Michael McDonagh, writer/director of "Calvary" and "The Guard", I recommend both, has created a movie that is beyond offensive, crude, vulgar, violent, crazy, and quirky...in a good way, and I rather enjoyed it! "War on Everyone" is most definitely NOT FOR EVERYONE! Alexander Skarsgård and Michael Peña are hilarious as cops that seem to only serve and protect themselves. This movie is funny, but tends to shift tones willy-nilly, some a little more awkward than others. It goes to some very dark places making the bad guys really bad which makes our anti-hero protagonists the heroes almost by default. Maybe that's more harsh than I meant it. Our "hero" cops are not as bad as they seem. Deep down they know what's right and they can't help but go about it in the wrong way. "War on Everyone" is like a love letter to those harsh cop/detective/P.I. movies of the '70s. It's a wild one that shows off that sometimes it's good to be bad.

Stars (out of 4):

Fun Fact: In the scene at the members only club Alexander Skarsgård orders a bloody mary and says "the bloodier the better." This is likely a reference to True Blood (2008) where he played the vampire Eric.
