Review: Based on Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola's acclaimed Elseworld graphic novel for DC Comics, "Gotham By Gaslight" tells the story puts the Batman universe in an alternative Victorian Age Gotham City. Batman begins to investigate a series of murders by the notorious Jack the Ripper. And soon the Dark Knight knows that the streets of Gotham won't be safe until he rids them of the psychotic fiend. Here, a great graphic novel, if you haven't read it you must, has been adapted into a dark, action-packed thriller that you don't want to miss. While watching I was so impressed by the story, characters, visuals, and inventive Batman tech of the times, that I thought that this would make for a great live-action Batman movie. Kind of like a Sherlock Holmes era Batman adventure. Who doesn't want to see that? Bruce Greenwood makes for a great Bruce Wayne and his alter ego Batman. And I was impressed by Jennifer Carpenter as the mysterious Selina Kyle. This is not for kids! It's bloody, violent, dark, and startling scary. It's also Batman doing what he does best, saving Gotham City one demented villain at a time. See it and read the graphic novel or read it then see it.

Fun Fact: This is the third DC Comics Animated Original Movie to receive an 'R' rating after Batman: The Killing Joke (2016) and Justice League Dark (2017).
