Review: Demonic forces are afoot, and it's up to occult investigator John Constantine to exorcise them. This feature-length animated adaption of the DC Comics' Hellblazer series follows the English antihero as he attempts to save the soul of his friend Chas's daughter, Trish. Constantine, with the help of several startling supernatural beings, might have a chance to outsmart the demon Beroul and save this young girl from eternal damnation.

Matt Ryan returns as the voice of Constantine, the role he first brought to the animation world in Justice League Dark. And it's the role he was born to play. As Constantine, Ryan is dark, smug, cynical, and constantly chain smoking. Just the way he should be.

Unlike most R rated DC animated movies, Constantine: City of Demons easily earns the rating with it's shockingly intense and graphic violence, gore, and disturbing images. And take it from someone who has read the Hellblazer comics, this is very faithful to the tone, characters, and storytelling found within those pages.

This movie doesn't hold back. It gets dark, moody, and really brings forth a feeling of dread. If you like Constantine in any capacity, check this one out, but be warned...it's a bloody good time!
