Review: When bratty 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) acts out the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother (Catherine O'Hara) makes him sleep in the attic. After the McCallisters mistakenly leave for the airport without Kevin, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. But his excitement sours when he realizes that two con men (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) plan to rob the McCallister residence, and that he alone must protect the family home. Home Alone and it's sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York have reached cult classic status among holiday films. I for one, make it a point to watch both films each holiday season. This film manages to acheive laugh after laugh as Kevin McCallister displays unprecedented levels of resourcefulness in delivering a massive beatdown on the Wet Bandits. These poor burglars have no idea what they're getting themselves into, and their series of misfortunes is nothing short of hysterical to watch unfold. Home Alone also excels in having a heartwarming side to it, and instilling the appreciation of family around the holiday season. Last but not least, John Williams does it again with another iconic score. I can't recommend this film enough, and look forward to watching it every December!

Fun Fact: The picture Kevin finds of Buzz's girlfriend was a picture of a boy made up to look like a girl, because Director Chris Columbus thought it would be too cruel to make fun of a girl like that. The boy that was used in the photo was the Art Director's son.
